Mini-Soccer is a Keizer Soccer Club league where younger players are placed on smaller gender specific teams and play in small sided games. This format is recommended by the coaching staff of both US Soccer and Oregon Youth Soccer. It provides more opportunities for players to handle the ball in games, more individual attention from coaches who are working with smaller teams in training, and the small sided game leads to a stronger development of both individual and team skills and ultimately a greater love of the game.
Teams will be playing in the Mid Valley Soccer League, which is an OYSA sanctioned Recreational League. There are no scores or standings yet there is a higher spirit of competition than the average recreational league. Often other local clubs play into the league making competition a little more fun in the Salem/Keizer area. All games are played on Saturday at the Whitaker Middle School Field Complex.
Coaches for these teams are volunteers. KSC provides training sessions for coaches, ongoing coaching clinics, weekly training plans, equipment and more as available.
KSC teams are loosely formed by geographical area, age group and gender. New player placement is done by geographical area when possible; players may request a team or coach, but are not guaranteed placement per the request. Returning players may request to return to the same team from the previous season or may request a new team, but again are not guaranteed placement per the request. The club reserves the right to the final decision on all placements. Player registration fee covers registeration, placement on a KSC team, insurance, and more.
